Thank you for wanting to Get Out There and do something different in Orange County. This group has been around for over four years and looking back, we have done some very cool things! If you are into Orange County Sports, mainly the Anaheim Ducks and the Anaheim Angels, you will find that we offer some very cool experiences relating to the games!
Also if you like concerts and comedy, we do those often enough for you to get your fill! GOT-OC also has been known to create very cool experiences, we have thrown parties at some well known places like the Discovery Science Center, K1 Speed, Ripley's Believe it or Not, and the House Of Blues to name a few. We have also produced trips to see tapings of the Price is Right! 3 time winners! A new Car! Some Bikes! The Showcase Showdown! We have gotten on busses and hit the casinos, rented limos to tour Christmas lights, and have just held small social gatherings at local resturants and bars.
GOT-OC also produces several events called the House Of 80's which take place at the House Of Blues in Anaheim and Los Angeles. If you love the 80's this is the place to be!
GOT-OC was founded here on meetup, but has since expanded and grown to other social media outlets, so the rsvps, may close suddenly for those events that have limited space. This group is for hikers of all levels who want to explore the beauty and incredible trails of the San Gabriel Mountains, and the rest of Southern California. As our name suggests, many of our hikes will begin early in the morning, although we have regular evening hikes as well. The early starts allow us to hit the trails (and the parking lots) before the crowds set in, and by starting early we also finish all but our longest hikes before noon.
Our hikes range from short and fairly easy (3-5 miles and about 1,000 feet of elevation gain) to intermediate (in the range of 7-10 miles and 2-3,000 feet of elevation) to advanced (our Mt. Wilson summit hikes, for instance, are usually about 15 miles and 4,200 feet).
One important note: So that as many people as possible can enjoy the wonderful trails that this group visits, we have a strict no-flake policy. Many of our hikes have wait lists. If you're on the "yes" list for a hike with a wait list, you absolutely must show up. Flaking on a wait-list hike means you deprived someone else of the chance to join us, and it gets you suspended for six months in our group. Changing your RSVP when you change your mind about a hike takes 10 seconds, and it's the right thing to do.
So set that alarm clock, beat the crowds and the heat, and come explore the beauty that's hidden in our local mountains.
Meet other local urban professionals from the Inland Empire and surrounding areas to network with and have fun while doing it! If you are professional and want to have a strong support system that is just as motivated and ambitious as yourself-then welcome! We do fun social and substantial amounts of professional networking as well-because all work and no play is not for this group!! I wanted to say THANK-YOU for having this group.
Thanks to 2009 NEW YEARS meet-up party, I met the most wonderful man in my life.
We went as single strangers and have become the best of each others lives.
This NEW YEARs will be a year that we have been together....with many more to come.

Meet your fellow tennis lovers and players from all over the San Gabriel Valley. All are welcome. Depending on what a member is looking for, there are a couple things we try to do. One, we place members with similar playing levels together. This allows them to maximize the degree of enjoyment achieved through game play. Two, we place members of varying play levels together. This helps to foster an atmosphere where members of higher playing levels create the opportunity for members of lower playing levels to grow and improve their game.
Competition is fun, but it should not interfere with the common goal of trying to grow as players. The more we help each other grow as players, the more fun we can have through competitive activities within the group. On that note, we intend to start organizing round robin events fairly soon. This is where we can apply this methodology of helping each other grow as players by mixing members of varying play levels. We now also offer clinics about once a week to our members who are seeking improvement by addressing specific weak spots in their game.

Welcome to the Southern California Adventure Hikers meetup! This group brings together like-minded hiking enthusiasts who enjoy advanced and challenging outdoor activities in Southern California and beyond.
Adventure Hikers is intended for experienced and prepared hikers who are looking for challenges that take them to the next level. Please note that the term 'Adventure' does not refer primarily to off-trail, bushwhacking or exploratory kind of hikes, but also to long 20+ mi hikes and/or hikes with substantial elevation changes (4000' or more). Our goal is NOT be to go as fast as humanly possible, but rather to do tough hikes and enjoy them!
While we welcome new members, please be mindful that our group is not for everyone, and is definitely not intended for beginners or Sunday strollers. If you are new to hiking, unsure of your abilities or looking for easy hikes, it is strongly recommended you check out other Meetups first and gain some experience before signing up for any of the trips posted here. Should you decide to join, take note of the expectation that all members must already have a conditioning level to the point where hikes in the 10-12 mile range are routine.
What type of activities will you find here? Our group focuses primarily on mountain hiking in all its shapes and forms - from moderate dayhikes to 12hr+ endurance treks to overnighters or weekend backpacks. However, in keeping with the diverse interests of the organizers and members, we also engage in more specific and/or unusual activities such as: peakbagging (getting to the top of as many mountains as possible); highpointing (collecting the highest points of a particular geographic unit such as country, state or county); non-technical climbing (class 2-3 for connoisseurs); scrambling; easy mountaineering; alpine climbing; cross-country route finding; snowshoeing & winter hiking; and many others.
We also like to combine several different things with extended hiking trips, such as scenic drives; visiting and camping in national parks; rafting; exploring canyons, deserts and coastlines; and generally letting ourselves be guided by the motto: SEE AMERICA FIRST :)

We are a group of skeptics with a heavy atheist 'bent'. If you don't believe in any supernatural deity or paranormal ability this group is for you. We meet once a month in Villa Park (next to Orange) in Orange County, CA on the forth Wednesday and Thursday (alternating). We also have many other events - usually at least once a week such as field trips, movie night and Irish pub nights.
Our meetings are in our backyard (hence the name) and usually has a guest speaker or a topic which is posted on the meetup announcement. We have many field trips and casual get-togethers just to socialize with other non-theists as well, and of course our great pot-luck summer and winter solstice parties.
We have a voluntary semi-annual donation of $20 on Jan 1 and July 1 which includes your first meeting and a dinner.
We serve dinner at our monthly meetings which are on the forth Wednesday or Thursday. We request a minimum donation of $12 or $5 without dinner. Our members arrive around 6:45pm and the meeting starts a little after 7pm. Our meetings are where you can freely talk about your skepticism and non-belief without religious dogma.
Our goal: To support the atheist/agnostic/skeptic/humanist community with local meetings, potluck parties, and other social events. To spread the word that skeptics and non-believers are good and moral people and to promote secular values and the separation of church and state. We cherish humanistic values over any supernatural superstitions and encourage others to look at their worldview with critical thinking skills.

It's hard to stay physically active when you're busy. Short walks and easy hikes in the morning and evening and longer jaunts on the weekend are a great way to squeeze in some exercise. Let's meet at local parks and trails for regular exercise and conditioning for more challenging hikes. Bring the kids, your spouse, a co-worker, or your four-legged pal! Everyone needs to stay active!
Do you want to exercise but need a little motivation to get moving? Or do you not prefer to walk alone due to safety reasons? Looking for new places to walk your dog? Then this group is for you!

Ride! That is what we do!! We are a group of riders that enjoy and are very passionate about Mt.Biking and all aspects of it. We believe in riding within a group for camaraderie, fun, knowledge and most importantly safety while out on the trails. Everyone that starts a ride with us will finish. Struggling or been off the bike for a while? No Worries!! The group who shows up to ride will always determine the pace. We will make sure everyone that shows up to ride has a fun and enjoyable time. We want to help you get better, faster and stronger! You get out of Mt.Biking as much or as little as you put into it!!
Many of our rides take place on the beautiful trails that Orange County has to offer. Additionally we are now starting to expand and offer rides in the Inland Empire and all the way down to San Diego County. Some of our favorite spots to ride are Fullerton Loop, Santiago Oaks, Whiting Ranch, Aliso and Woods Canyon and El Moro (Crystal Cove), Sycamore Canyon, Box Springs, Skyline, Chino Hills State Park, Big Bear and so on. In addition to this we occasionally will plan weekend getaways, as well as hit up trails that other places in So Cal and beyond have to offer.

Its difficult to find other Ping Pong players, or even harder sometimes to find a place to play! We are hoping to meetup with others to enjoy the game, meet new friends, and have a good time.

Riding alone can be hugely rewarding. But, the camaraderie of riding with the right group beats riding alone any day. It has started with that philosophy.
ARC is a motorcycle community created for riders from all over to meet, to ride and to have fun together. It was founded in Oct 2008 by a group of responsible riders. Ever since, it has been required no membership dues and it has been reaching out to not only Asians but also any human race.
It's all about the people, the rides, the adventure, the fun, the laugh and the journey. We host weekly rides, track days, bike nights and the special events. We thank our members to make this place great and to meet new people. All bikes, all skill levels, all riders are welcome.
ARC is a very diverse and safety oriented riding group consisting of riders of all ages, skill level, and ethnic backgrounds. We require all our members who participate in group rides to be fully geared with at least a helmet, jacket, gloves, full length pants, and boots. And we strongly discourage showing off or stunting during our events because our member's safety is our number one priority.
At ARC, raise your voice, and you WILL be heard, that is one of the main reasons we formed this group.
Our organizer crew will listen to what you have to say and for the benefit of the group we will actually do something about it.

Inland Empire Women Cyclists (IEWC) is an active meetup group for women who enjoy riding their bicycles outdoors in the fresh air, together! Our group consists of a wide range of riding skills and experience which lends to a wonderful, positive learning experience for all members.
We keep our calendar as full as possible to offer our members a wide-range of riding options, whether it be road or mountain biking, bike trails or city bikepaths, local or long-distance routes. Our group rides offer a nice mix of casual, fitness or goal-specific rides, as well as participation in organized rides. We are not a bike racing group, therefore we never leave a rider behind.

I have been hiking around OC, LA, and other areas; however, I wanted to hike near my work and home due to busy and demanding schedule from work and personal life. Our BOBie cycling group is led with a passion for cycling and the enjoyment of sharing it with others. Keith, having shed 100lbs in 2007, keeps himself in shape with his passion for cycling. He constantly challenges himself as well as anyone else who cares to join him. He enjoys good long & fast-paced rides, climbs, and sharing his knowledge with others. Keith is thankful for those who have reached out to mentor him.
Janet, shed 55lbs in 2007. She severely injured her back at home that same year. Janet's recovery involved the healing effects of cycling and aquatics fitness. Recovering from back surgery in the summer of 2011 sidelined Janet's love of cycling for awhile.
As of October 2011, Janet is back to enjoying ride route exploration, mid-week morning rides, leading moderate rides up to 40 miles, and creating and nuturing wonderful cycling friendships, and growing this exciting cycling group.
Keith and Janet rode over 150 miles in Holland, Netherlands where their love for cycling was ignited. They embrace those cyclists who have also fallen in love with the feel of the open road, wind in the face, sun over their shoulders, and smiles that just won't fade.

When relationships don't make sense and hurt, anger and resentment seem to be part of everyday life then you are "living below the line".
This group was started to support the broken hearted and the disillussioned.. The purpose of this group is to provide resources for anyone who is hurting because of a present or past relationship. There will be a calender of events providing meetup support meetings, special nights with guest speakers.

We are a Meetup group based in San Gabriel Valley and focused on activities in this general geographical area. We welcome people who are familiar with cultures of different Asian countries to join this group. Expats of different Asian countries are welcome to join and share their cross-cultural experiences. For the safety of the group we do require that a real picture of you be submitted even if its not your main picture. We are mostly a womens group and a lot of things are hosted in our private homes so we need to know who to expect and who to call the cops on.
I love crafts but its hard to meet other people in the same age group that are into crafts as well. Don't get me wrong I love grandmas but I don't want to spend my Friday nights with them. I have dabbled in a little bit of everything, you should see my craft closet/room in my trek to becoming the best Martha Stewart (Wannabe) I can be. And it's not as fun to do it by yourself. So why not be social?
The purpose of this group is to meet other women who enjoy crafts to meet socially and do group planned activities that can be taught by the members, (i.e. if you are a great crocheter you can teach how to make a scarf and the following meet up would be a different topic by a different member) or just have open free for all craft night where everybody brings their own projects and we sip some wine and eat some food.
I am also a do-gooder so from time to time I would like to host activities to help the needy. Knitting for cancer patients or card making for soldiers to send home for their loved ones, there is always someone in need that could use our crafty help.
Lastly for 2011 we have added a book club component since as a general we all love books!

We are a free coed soccer organization for those who would like to get in on some pick up game action. Scrimmage Jerseys are provided as well as field equipment.
Amazing and Brilliant Minds... That is what our children have. Children on the spectrum have awesome abilities and giftings that are often overlooked and ignored. We are standing as a body of people on the spectrum or related to people/ children on the spectrum, believing that amazing and brilliant capabilities are more of a focus than the "disability" label so many put on us. Many would say it is a question of weather the glass is half empty or half full, but we say the glass is completely filled with potential and hope. Our challenge is to discover an atmosphere for support, encouragement and friendship- something so little of us receive.
This Meetup is based on creating friendships and a social community between ourselves, and to provide an environment of edification and encouragement for our children on the spectrum. Children who find it difficult to form friendships in the school systems are finding natural and strong bonds with one another.
If your child is having a hard time making friends, I would encourage you to join this group.

Founded in 1920, Nature Friends LA is one of southern California's oldest outdoor hiking and recreation clubs.
We are a private, non-profit organization and welcome hikers and nature enthusiasts of all ages and backgrounds to enjoy weekly jaunts in the San Gabriels, monthly gatherings at our rustic alpine clubhouse (built in 1924) in Sierra Madre, and occasional treks into the wild.
We also maintain a hand-built log cabin (built 1937) on Mt. San Jacinto near Idylwild, which is open to official members and their guests throughout the spring, summer and fall seasons.
Nature Friends Los Angeles has two sister branches (in San Francisco and Oakland), with alpine lodges in Muir Woods and Donner Summit). We are affiliated with Naturfreunde International, which operates nearly 1,000 recreational hostels, mainly in Europe.

What is Land Ops?
Land Ops is all about adventure and exploration using off road capable vehicles to carry us into the deep unknown. Very few people venture this far into the wild and for good reasons.
As if the deep inland journey was not enough we also conduct navigation and radio communication exercises that elevate your experience to that of an expedition team with tactical mission objectives. You are NOT required to have radios to experience Land Ops, but at least a GPS device for geocaching.
Land Ops satisfies the person who seeks to embark on a journey into the unknown with a sense of purpose and accomplishment.
What we do is both fun and challenging. We're not just sight seers, we're operators, drivers, navigators, geocachers and radio communicators, survivalist and search and rescue. We use technology to create a unique game-play that is really not found in any off road clubs or adventure groups.
We attract off road explorers, campers, ham radio enthusiast, fire fighters, military men and women, geocachers and survivalist. We are known as Land Ops and we welcome you to our challenge.
Night Ops
One of the most unique operations you will ever experience in our group is a Night Op or Extreme Night Op. These are explorations and tactical exercises conducted with the added challenge of darkness. This is not as easy as it might sound. These ops are just plain spooky. Members have been known to return to base camp after a few short miles due to the level of sensory deprivation introduced by the dark of night. Navigating unknown terrain at night, far away from civilization is like driving on the dark side of the moon. However, night ops are well planned and conducted with capable teams and an over-watch element.
Teamwork is a crucial for successful night operations. Simulated search and rescue, satellite debris recovery, radio relay projects, and geotactical ops are just a few night time exercises you might expect on any given Land Ops trip. For many members night ops are the most exciting. The confusion factor and chaos introduced by the aspect of night must be overcome in order for the operational objectives to be met. Since night ops are extremely dangerous from a standpoint of "getting lost" they are always conducted with multiple teams working together. You will not soon forget a Land Ops night operation.
Daytime Ops
For daylight operations you can expect several of the following exercises to be conducted; Capture the flag (competitive), Progressive geocaching and puzzle solving, geotactical relay (teamwork), buried treasure hunt with real prizes inside the treasure chest, geocaching, exploring and various other navigation and communication games.
Mind Set
Each participant is encouraged to bring a good attitude and expect to be challenged at some point. Our missions which are planned for fun. In other words, they are not so difficult that you have to be a scientist to complete them, however they can easily become extremely challenging due to the environment and unexpected adversity. You should come expecting to have fun, but if you are not prepared for challenges you might get easily frustrated. Getting stuck in the sand, a windy day that tries to uproot your tent and/or a cold night can test your mental strength to keep it together. Come for fun and expecting a challenge!
Teamwork
Although some of the exercises are competitive the main theme of the Land Ops adventure trips is "Teamwork". Experienced members and new members team up to accomplish mission objectives that involve
Equipment
The minimum requirement is a reliable vehicle for offroad use and a gps device for finding waypoints and geocaches. Radios are not required, but helpful. Members who are not radio operators are encouraged to pick up a few FRS radios (not CBs) so that you may communicate with other members vehicle to vehicle. Ham radio operators you should have a field day. We use 2 meter, 440, repeaters, and APRS (automatic position reporting systems) and anything else you might want to show and tell.
Membership
Membership and trips are free. Currently; Land Ops does not charge any fees. However, none of us really has any money (we're not rich), we're all working folks....so....your donations are encouraged. Buying our videos and participating in raffles really helps off set the costs. Help where you can! We encourage trip donations. Donations are not required to attend and we won't look at you funny if you don't donate, but we consider a $35 donation per vehicle to be a nice gesture for the off road trips. We've been given more and it helps. Donations go towards trip organizing, setup and prizes.

This is the original description of my purpose in starting this group:
"I love to hike, but I have kids that are 9 and 11 . . . and they DON'T. I was in several other OC hiking groups, but most of the hikes happen when I would either need to get a sitter or drag the boys with us. So I finally decided to start a group to pull together others who would hike with me during the normal work-week.
We will schedule a variety of hikes in a variety of locations, but my focus will be on hikes within half an hour (by car) of the intersection of Imperial Hwy and the 91 Freeway, and on hikes that are between 1 and 3 hours in length. All of our hikes will start at 9 a.m. or later, and will end before 5 p.m.
I do work, but I can take time off for a few short hikes a week. If you can make time to join me, then . . . join me!"
But this is the email I sent out today, on the 1-year anniversary of the group:
My boys started school today, and I have started a new year with my business. Last year I loved our hikes, but neglected commitments I'd made to clients and was difficult to reach for support issues during our hikes. This year I realize that I cannot hike when I am supposed to be available to clients!
I have been considering what to do with this group all summer, and decided over the last week or two to try 6 months of member-initiated and member-led hikes, and to open up the hours a bit since so many of you want hikes that are earlier than 9 a.m. So tomorrow I will change the name of the group to simply "Yorba Linda Hiking" and drop the "9-5 Monday to Friday" part, and I will change the meetup settings to allow all members to add meetups.
I wish I could join you all on your hikes and walks! I wouldn't have started this if I didn't want to be out there myself! But the reality is that I have kids at home who need my attention when it is outside normal working hours, a business that needs my attention during the work-week, and that regular hikes will have to wait just a few more years for me.

I am pleased to bring you the Inland Empire's finest meet-up for fans of National Geographic's "The Dog Whisperer." This is a training group designed for those that are fans of Cesar Millan's pack leader philosophy.
For more than 20 years I have used natural, primal, and holistic methods to work with dogs, as well as other animals. As a professional dog trainer of nearly 20 years I have received formal training with internationally known trainers and authors covering a wide range of training methods and techniques. In April 2005 I began my formal training of Cesar Millan's methods through Linn Boyke, one of Cesar's first assistants. The training I received changed my life, and I am honored to share with all of you what I have learned through working with the methods and philosophy you see practiced on the Dog Whisperer TV show. My goal is to assist you in anyway that I can with all of your doggy needs.
My work with all breeds and ages in behavior modification and solutions, problem solving, complete home manners, and multi-canine management has brought remarkable changes to all of my clients throughout the United States and Europe. I believe that by helping my clients achieve complete fulfillment within their dogs, they will also find fulfillment. I draw from a lifetime of experiences with animal companions, as well as more than 16 years of yoga practice to help bring a calm, balanced energy to all of my clients, canine and human alike.
